How to make a smoky hookah?
One of the most frequently asked questions is how to make sure that there is a lot of smoke coming from the hookah. We will give you some tips that will help you to have large clouds of smoke.
Contrary to popular opinion, the smoke of the hookah is almost independent of tobacco. If you do not take into account very low-grade tobacco then the smokiness of most popular tobaccos is the same. The main sponsor of the effect is glycerol, which is part of the mixture, in one or another quantity. It allows you to increase the smoke in the hookah, makes it dense and textured.
What is glycerine?
The content of glycerine can be increased artificially. It is sold in free access, is not expensive. The substance is not dangerous for the body; it is used in food additives, dyes, seasonings. But only if you buy food grade glycerine. Pharmaceutical, which is put into cosmetics and medicines, will not help to hammer a shisha with dense, but only will provoke unpleasant consequences for the organism. Glycerine is also used in many hookah cafes in Sydney to please the customers with big clouds of smoke.
Heat control
One of the main factors of getting lots of smoke is the heat. How do we know when we have the optimal temperature? The taste will be good and there will be lots of smoke – to achieve this you need to heat up the tobacco as much as possible without over burning it. It is something that comes with experience.
Use at least 2 layers of foil. There is no unambiguous answer to the question of how many layers of foil to use – it depends on the thickness of the foil and how many coals you are using. The same is true of what side of the foil should be out: shiny or matte. It does not matter; it all depends on the temperature control.
The general rule is this: the larger the size of the coals, the less their number and more layers of foil. In practice, you can achieve excellent results and with large uncoated coal. 2 cubes are usually not enough, but 3 are just right. Place them as far apart as possible from each other and from the centre. If you notice that the smoke is a lot, you can move them closer to the centre.
Pour exactly so much tobacco into the bowl that there should be at least 3 mm of space on top. This prevents the tobacco from touching the coals. If the tobacco touches the coals, it will begin to burn. As a result, we will get an unpleasant, bitter taste of hookah. Before filling in the bowl, the tobacco should be carefully loosened, and each leaf should be unfolded gently by hand and squeezed lightly. Well-prepared tobacco provides thick and rich smoke.
Let the bowl to warm up before you start smoking. Keep yourself and your friends away from the hookah for about 5 minutes. What for? Thus, you will allow to warm up the deeper layers of tobacco, accordingly, more tobacco will be used, => there will be more smoke.
Cooler smoke will be denser
Cooling the smoke in hookah determines its density. The matter is that the steam, passing through the tube, condenses on its walls, as a result of which a huge number of the smallest droplets of different composition are formed, which are captured by the flow during tightening. These microscopic droplets also provide a smoke density. That is, we can conclude that cooling the smoke is directly proportional to its thickness. It is for this reason that some hookahs have specially designed areas to hold ice.
Cleaning your shisha might also help in favour of getting larger smoke clouds. Bigger clouds are more fun and they are one of the reasons why people smoke hookahs.
